wedding talk.

Since being engaged I have began to notice more and more about weddings, engagement pictures, invitations, and blah-blah-blahty-blah all that jazz.

I mean, I noticed before that people my age were getting engaged and married, but I never really noticed, ya know?

It's kind of like you don't really notice the food commercials until you are hungry. Right? Well, I never noticed the wedding hoopla until I became engaged.

And let me tell you. I'm a little irritated.

What? Irritated? Why? A wedding and engagement should be the best time in your life? It's a time where everyone gets to see you being SO happy? Everyone wishes they were you!

THAT RIGHT THERE is the issue.

I feel as if weddings have changed into a popularity contest.

I have the best dress.
I have the best photos.
Oooooh I had fireworks at my wedding.
I had an open bar.
I AM THE BEST BRIDE IN ALL THE LAND.

NEWSFLASH, folks. The wedding isn't about impressing others. And, it really just irks me that it has evolved to be another reason for people to get "likes" on Facebook.

Don't get me wrong, I think weddings are great and fun. But much too often I see the pictures of the wedding party in the limo with their fancy drinks and I notice, the bride and groom aren't even sitting with each other. Where is that selfie stick? In the brides hands as she parades around trying to get the perfect picture, instead of enjoying the once in a lifetime moment she is sharing with the man she is going to spend the rest of her life with.

Like, for real. Take a moment and chill with the camera phones and the social media.

If you are lucky enough to have found the love of your life, why does it matter so much to you that you have a perfect picture of EVERY INTERACTION YOU HAVE ON YOUR WEDDING DAY.

Additionally, the fact that the AVERAGE wedding cost today is 26,000 dollars. WHAT.

Do you know what I could do with 26,000 dollars?! Who in their right mind would spend that much on just ONE DAY.

I get it, sure, it's your wedding day. But the fact people are spending over 2000 dollars on flowers THAT WILL EVENTUALLY DIE is unfathomable. I just don't get it.

So, brides to be, take a request from me and just take a moment to enjoy the moment. Stop caring about the the attention and the "likes" and just remember, this is supposed to be a time for your and your fiance. Don't make it about everyone else.

If I offend anyone, I am truly sorry, but honestly...I feel as if some people will see my point of view on things. The world of social media is ruining the process of engagement and marriage and it is distracting us from the meaning of marriage.

Heck, maybe that's why 50% of people in the US get divorced? Who knows.

What do you guys think?

my thoughts on bro tanks.

NO, JUST NO.

Being on a college campus makes this main bro-tank ground. And since the sun has been peaking out the past couple of days these "bro's" think that it is now acceptable to show their "guns" (or lack there of.)

I cannot explain my hatred for this article of clothing.

Let alone wearing a bro-tank with pants. WHAT. WHY ARE YOU WEARING A TANK TOP WITH LONG PANTS. IF IT IS COLD ENOUGH TO WEAR PANTS IT IS TOO COLD TO WEAR A BRO TANK, BRO.

I know, I know, I may sound a little crazy.

But in all honesty I cannot take anymore fraternity, long-board riding, spiked hair wearing, bro's in bro-tanks.

Rant done.

pretty vs. hot.

I was recently referred to a very interesting article by my English teacher. The article talked about the  "Death of Pretty", and it got me thinking.

But first. Read it. So you understand where I am coming from.

Now for those of you underachievers out there, I'll give you a little summery. Basically the article is saying that the new generations of girls aren't trying to be "pretty" anymore, but "hot". In other words instead of flaunting their natural beauty, they are flaunting their boobs (or booty, legs, whatever).

I think that this is so true. How many times to you walk around and see those girls that have super low cut shirts and super short, short, shorts?

I mean, I'm not going to lie, I wear low-cut shirts. But I have no boobs, like, no cleavage or anything so I can pull it off relatively, and the shirts aren't that low. And I do love me some short shorts, but never shorts that show the bottom of my butt cheeks.

I believe that you can pull of hot, the same time you are pulling off pretty.

You know what I mean? It isn't a horrible thing to dress hot once and awhile. It's natural to want others to look at you and envy you. But there are certain extremes. You don't want to do that every day.

We lose site of pretty. We take pretty for granted.

Those pretty brown eyes, the pretty freckles on your face, the lovely porcelain skin, the things that people hate about themselves are actually the prettiest features on them. And people try to cover those brown eyes with contacts, hide those freckles with concealer, and get rid of that porcelain skin by tanning.

Do you guys not understand that you are beautiful? Do you understand that you are more beautiful as an individual rather than conforming to be societies version of "hot"?

Why do you want to be hot? Is it to get that guy you see walking down the hallway? Is it to make that girl jealous? Sure, strive to be hot. But understand this, if you flaunt your natural beauty you will have much better attention.

Remember that.

You are beautiful.
Every single one of you.

Even if you don't think so, even if others have made remarks about your looks, whether it is about weight, height, or like for me your "pig nose" , know that those who are saying those things are the ones who are striving to be "hot". The ones who are worried more about their looks than anything else. They are the jealous ones. The people that are not unique at all.

Unique is beautiful. Know that you have no flaws. God made you beautiful.

And everyone can see that, whether you want to believe it or not.
