short girl maxi probs.
Dx
So remember this post?
Well I had a lot of people say something about them being short and not having the chance to wear maxi's or find them. So, I have decided to help you shorties out.
I don't know if any of you gals know this but I am a short girl myself. Well, kind of.
I'm 5'3" and I always thought that I wasn't going to be able to pull of a maxi, but I loved them and I was determined to find myself a maxi I could work.
So, if you are a short girl looking to work one just take a few little steps and you will be rockin' that maxi in no time.
1. If you are a shortie, it is best to go for a solid color in your maxi's. This will not only lengthen your body but it will also slim you.
2. Stripes are a no, no. They make you look shorter and stubbier. Not cute.
3. Since you are petite, go for a tighter fitting maxi. You can pull it off and it will further slim you.
4. Pick the right length. My ideal lenth is just hitting the bottom of my ankle. So you won't drag the dress on the floor but it will still.
5. Try to pick a dress with details the elongate the body, such as a deep V-neck or scoop neck, or anything that has a slight vertical line down it.
6. Wear your confidence. You look good. Work it girl.
Hope this helped! If you have any other styling questions feel free to let me know! I enjoy this type of post! :)

no problem girl!
DeleteAh I love Maxi's and recently after shedding a lot of weight have finally had the confidence to wear them ( I'm 5'2) but even so, they still make me look bulkier/shorter etc than other outfits so I feel like I can wear them, they just aren't as flattering as other things.. does that make sense? But you are definitely right on the no stripes!!! Nothing makes a girl look wider than stripes.
ReplyDeletecongrats on the weight loss! and try going with a darker color, maybe navy or black? that'll slim ya! like i said, work it girl! :)
Deletelove a good maxi!

Deletelove the tied maxi - I have done it a few times and it is a way to help with the long maxis!
ReplyDeletei know, so cute.
DeleteI definitely think girls on the shorter-side can pull it off, I have a friend who is only 5" and she wears them fantastically! I am 5'7-5'8 ish so I am on the taller side and sometimes I wish I was a bit shorter so that I could wear some of the maxi dresses out there, some of them hit me at my shins - awkward length!
