First Date Advice.

We all have had this problem at some point in our lives. You know, the awkward first date. Whether it is just a movie or out to eat a nice dinner we have some problems that just naturally come our way. The first date is all about making an awesome first impression. Well...my friends, I have some advice for how to avoid awkward first date problems. Listen (read?) carefully, and you will have the best. First. Date. Ever. :)

First off, the general no-no's.

• Don't be late. What makes a better first impression than, "Hey I really don't care that you think I am rude because I was late, I had to make my hair look perfect. Yes, that's right, my hair is more important than good quality date time, thank you." No.

Take a shower. No guy enjoys smelling the ripe stench of a woman's underarms. Well, other than that guy living in the trash can about a mile and a half away.

Be Hot. But not too hot. We don't want this guy to think that he can get laid on the first date, now do we? I don't think so. Just be hot enough to make him think about how truly hot you actually are. I really don't think any guy really wants to go on a date with someone in frumpy clothes, you know?

Don't talk about yourself. Yes, he took you on a date to learn more about you. But you also need to be interested in who he is too. It is just kind of rude to talk about yourself when he is taking you on the date. Say somethings, but make it concentrated. Remember, you can only have a date with TWO people.

Don't take phone calls or texts. RUDE. "Hey! I have to take this call because, well, frankly I don't really know you nor would I like to get to know you. I only really wanted a free dinner." Not very nice message, huh?

Avoid certain foods. Scroll down, please. :)

Food to Stay Away From.

 • Any sort of stringy pasta.  Spaghetti, linguine, fettuccine anything that isn't mac-n-cheese size. The thing is that even if you spend 20 minutes carefully twirling your spaghetti into the perfect little cocoon on your fork you will slurp it and it will be loud.  In addition to the horrible slurping sound the sauce is going to go flying onto either your beautiful first-date-outfit, or worse, your date’s.  The results will not be favorable.

• Anything Smelly. Garlic, onions, you know what I am talking about. BUT - if you are a fan of both of those, like me, then make sure you bring the spearmint gum. Even if you don't plan on kissing the guy, you are still going to talk and he is still going to be able to smell that stank comin' out of your mouth. But if you really do love these yummy foods then just try to make it without them on the first date. I mean, at least wait until the second. Give him at least one un-smelly date. ;)

• Things you eat with your hands. Ribs, shrimp, crab, and lobster.  First of all, if you get ribs on a first date you are asking for it. Secondly, if a guy is taking you out to lobster on your first date.  Then you should stay with him, regardless.  Just kidding.  Kind of.  But seriously anything you eat with your hands are all extremely messy to eat, and will most likely get all over your face and hands, and underneath your newly manicured nails. Not cute. But if you just HAVE to have the ribs because they are the special that he restaurant is having and it is only for one more day, than warn your man. Tell him whats up, and let your messy flag fly.

• Anything that will ruin your smile.  Corn, poppy seeds, spinach, and any blue candy. You don't want to be the girl that smiles and has spinach stuck in your teeth, do you? How do you avoid this problem? Floss, my friend, floss.  Don't let that happen to you.

So, all in all. If you remember this advice, I guarantee that that awesome first date will turn into a second. :)

  1. What a great post and I think one of the most important ones nowadays is the texting/calling one. You're so right, it's so rude and people can be addicted to their phones but on a first date, that's a big red flag. :) Nice advice

  7. Hahah my mum's advice was always to look your best possible on a first day and then on each subsequent date make a bit less effort so by the time you've 'got' them you can just hang around in trackies.
